E... reading some old correspondence from Ron Lashley, written about the time Touch My Heart was recorded, he wrote that you had the 2nd string lower on pedal 1, and the standard 3 pedals on 2, 3, and 4 respectively. So you got that ascending/descending lick by holding pedals 1 and 2 down and then lifting your foot in a coordinated manner. Pretty slick move, if you ask me. :-)
