There are no effects. At beat one, I'm playing the 4th, 2nd, 5th with pedal down and then releasing it. In the next bar I play the same notes but add the 2nd, 1st, and 4th strings to them, which creates the harmony for each of the original notes. At the end of the sequence I use the lever that lowers the Es just before going to the D chord.
