I'd like to add a Jimmy Day story that really displays his ability to put things into perspective in such a very few words. This tale has entered the "folklore" category, but it actually occured between JD and me during the 1992 ISGC. Jimmy and I were standing by the soundbooth and listening to an extremely fast and hot young Nashville player... since this guy is a Forumite and a fine guy I will spare him the embarrassment by naming him. He was faster than any bluegrass banjo player I'd ever heard, and I had my usual fit of envy and feelings of inadequacy. I turned to Jimmy and said, "man, I wish I could play like that," and without dropping a beat, Jimmy replied "and choose not to."
