I'll add that the push/pull rods were just as vulnerable to temp changes as the all pull, but each rod was spring loaded to overcome the problem. When properly set, there was about an eighth inch extra travel beyond the stops due to springs compressing at the bottom of the pedal. That extra compression made up for expansion or contraction of the pull or push rod.
