Dave: The 16ks were silky but a little too soft on the high end so I took a 17.5 out of the Blade and put it on the Legrande. It was an improvement but at this point, I believe the lack of definition is in the guitar itself. My mahogany Legrande with humbucking pickups blows the black one away. I like the 17.5k sound straight into my old Standel amp so I'm going to wait until I get the new Standel with the effects loop before I decide one way or the other.
