EMCI guitars

Hi Buddy, About a year ago, I played one of these guitars and got hooked on the sound. I bought an old EMCI and completely rebuilt the guitar; all new under carriage with redesigned bell cranks and knee levers. It also has new formica. The guitar now plays very smoothly but still not completely satisfied with the tone - chasing the push pull sound, I guess. My question is: at the time you were involved with these guitars, was there anything you thought needed to be changed? I appreciate any information you can give me. I also have a MCI welded frame that I am going to do some experimenting with, especially with the wood part of the guitar. Any suggestions? Thanks again. Frank
