I don't remember, but if I ditched the picks, maybe Danny had thrown his pick away during a solo and it was a feeble attempt to compete with another one of his tricks. Anything was liable to happen after the first set. Or it could have been for a tune I thought would sound better with the softer sound of the fingers. It was the premier gig for on-the-job training.
