I'm old enough to accept either spelling Dennis. :-) Most of the time I set the amp first and tweak with the rack EQ. Another way that works well, depending on your equipment, is to set everything on the amp (but the bass) straight up, which is flat, and try to get something close to what you want with the rack EQ and tweak with the amp controls.
