Thanks Bobby. The thumb in the picture is just a position I had my hand in at the time but you nailed the part about the hand spread. Eight months ago, I couldn't play octaves without having to quit after three in a row; and strings 4, 6, and 10 on the E9th, one of my favorite grips, was out of the question as well as the Martino octaves. Today, thanks to the oils I've been taking, I can do all of them with reasonable dexterity.
